1. Overview of PEX pipes
PEX pipe, also known as cross-linked polyethylene pipe, is a new type of pipe with excellent performance. It uses high-density polyethylene (HDPE) as the main raw material, and uses physical or chemical methods to transform the linear molecular structure of polyethylene into a three-dimensional network structure, thus greatly improving the performance of the pipe. PEX pipes are widely used in construction, industry, food and other fields due to their excellent heat resistance, creep resistance and stress cracking resistance.IFAN factory 30+ years manufacture experience support color /size customization support free sample.Welcome to consult for catalog and free samples. This is our Facebook Website:www.facebook.com.
2. Manufacturing process of PEX pipes
Raw material preparation
The manufacturing of PEX pipes first requires the preparation of high-quality raw materials. The main raw material is HDPE, and initiators, cross-linking agents, catalysts and other additives are also added, as well as modifiers added according to specific needs. The precise ratio of these raw materials and additives is the key to ensuring the performance of PEX pipes.
Mixing and drying
The mixing and drying of raw materials is a crucial step in the manufacturing process. Through precise mixing and drying, the uniformity and stability of raw materials are ensured, providing a solid foundation for subsequent production.
Plastic extrusion
After the raw materials are pre-treated, they enter the plasticizing and extruding stage. Under the action of the extruder, the raw materials undergo processes such as melting and homogenization, and gradually transform into highly elastic and viscous fluids, preparing for subsequent molding.
Mold forming
The plasticized and extruded material enters the mold at a suitable temperature. In the mold, the materials are spirally separated and then fused and compacted into a tubular parison, which is finally extruded from the die.
Cross-linking treatment
The cross-linking treatment of PEX pipes is a core link in the manufacturing process. The performance of PEX pipes will vary depending on the cross-linking method used. Common cross-linking methods include Engel method (peroxide method), silane method, radiation method, etc. Among them, PEX pipes manufactured by silane method and radiation method have higher heat resistance, creep resistance and stress cracking resistance because of their three-dimensional structure of macromolecules.
Refrigeration shaping and cutting
The heat pipe blank extruded from the mold is cooled through the sizing sleeve and the spray refrigeration box during the refrigeration and shaping stage to ensure that the size and shape of the pipe are stable. Subsequently, the pipe is cut to length to form a finished PEX pipe that meets the requirements.
Inspection and packaging
Finally, PEX pipes are strictly inspected to ensure that the products meet relevant standards and customer requirements. PEX pipes that pass the inspection can be shipped out of the factory for sale after being properly packaged.
3. Development Trend of PEX Pipe Manufacturing Technology
With the advancement of technology and the continuous changes in the market, the manufacturing process of PEX pipes is also constantly developing. In the future, the manufacturing process of PEX pipes will pay more attention to environmental protection, efficiency and intelligence to meet the diverse needs of the market.
